Nicholas Smith

Hi there!

My name is Nicholas Smith. I am a senior psychology major with a criminal justice minor from Wilbraham, MA., and I am honored to serve as the Student Government Association President this academic year. As the leader of our student body, my main goal is to ensure that the needs and concerns of our fellow students are heard and addressed by reaching out to other areas of campus where SGA has been seldom in the past. I am committed to fostering a safe, inclusive campus community where everyone feels welcome and valued. We can achieve great things together through collaboration, communication, and hard work, which is something that my executive board and I are trying to foster this year.

Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions via email,
president.sga@ or visit me in the SGA Room on the garden level of Ely across from Dunkin!

Sarah Harrington
Vice President of Academic Life

Hey, Owls! My name is Sarah Harrington and I sit on the Student Government Association Executive Board as the Vice President of Academic Life. In my position, I listen to student concerns about academics and parking, such as registration, issues with professors, parking tickets, graduation status, etc. I meet with the Provost, which I plan on doing once a month. As well as, making sure academic-related committees have student reps. I like my position because I work directly with students, curriculum, and professors. I love the community that comes with being on SGA. I have made many new friends and met friendly faces to say hi to on campus.

I am studying Elementary Education and planning on teaching first or third grade in the future. I started working at a summer camp about 6 years ago and immediately knew I wanted to continue working with kids in my future profession. I love working at a camp because it allows me to experience working with different age levels and test what age I want to focus on when I get older.

I absolutely love music. I played piano for multiple years and eventually taught myself how to play ukulele. I did musical theater in high school because I love singing. Once I got to Westfield, I veered away from the music path and towards student government, which I had never been a part of before. Some artists that I listen to include Rex Orange County, SZA, Noah Kahan, and Taylor Swift. I love talking about music, especially artists that I am into, so please feel free to start a conversation with me about it.

If I am anything, I am a social media girly. I am active on a lot of my accounts because I love sharing my life with my friends and family, especially when I can’t see them like when I am at school. I really enjoy posting random out-of-context photos of myself or friends just for the laugh that people get out of it. Follow me on Instagram, Snapchat, and BeReal!

Lastly, I want to thank anyone who voted for me last year in my run for VPAL. It is such a rewarding feeling to know that people trust and believe in me to succeed in this position. I am and will continue to give my best effort and time in order to have the best academic year possible. I hope everyone has an amazing school year and please don’t be afraid to say hi or reach out for any needs or concerns.

My office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11-12:30 and Fridays 12:30-1:30. My email is
